With over 350 weddings of experience, I still remember the first time I got asked to shoot a wedding. It was honestly a life changing moment for me and has led me to where I am today. It was such an honour to be trusted to capture such a big moment & to this day I still feel that feeling.

If you are considering Matt Ashton to capture your day, and he is available on your date, then this is the sign to lock him in immediately! (or change your wedding date to when he's available!) We were one of the many couples that had their original wedding plans completely uprooted by this pesky pandemic. We (semi-grudgingly) changed plans and postponed our 200-person celebration in QLD and had a 20-person elopement in Gerringong, NSW. It was stressful having to start from scratch again, but it was accidentally the best best best decision we ever could have made.
From the get-go Matt was super chilled out and really easy to talk to, and it felt like he was available 24/7 to chat not only his part in the wedding, but to literally help us plan the whole shindig. He covers all manner of roles, from planner to stylist! On the day of my veil wasn't holding and the man whips out some bobby pins from his bum bag and the veil did not move for the entire day!
Matt is all the clique but incredibly important things that you want from a photographer - he makes you feel comfortable in front of the camera (no matter how unphotogenic you feel - no forced staging, the shots are organic) - he runs the show, makes sure everything is running to the schedule without making you feel stressed or rushed - and the man is fun!

It took all of twenty minutes to feel like Matt was a member of our bridal party. We are the classic 'hate being in front of the camera/never takes a good photo" couple, and were absolutely dreading the photo session part of our wedding. But with Matt we ended up doubling the time for photos, it shocked us that the photos ended up being a highlight of the wedding instead of a necessary evil, and that is purely because of Matt. He is the ultimate hype man that makes the process so natural and we are still blown away by the photos he captured. We were hesitant to only have one photographer instead of two, but somehow Matt was everywhere at once. Everyone says not to skimp on photography on your wedding day as the photos last longer than memories, and hoo boy do we have the most incredible memories to remember forever.
Being in the unique position of having had two weddings, I can with full confidence recommend Matt Ashton for several reasons. He is incredibly helpful and readily available for advice in the lead up to the wedding. On the day he is exceptionally talented at making you feel comfortable and actually enjoy the process. The photos delivered are beyond expectations (to the point where we were convinced he had replaced us with better looking versions of ourselves!) and we received our 'sneak peek' photos before we had even woken up the next day!

My husband and I had Matt as our wedding photographer 5 weeks ago and absolutely loved the experience! Matt was so easy to work with from the beginning with quick email replies, patience answering all our questions and enthusiasm for our wedding vision. He even met up with us before the wedding to ease our concerns about last-minute details before the big day. We received over 700 beautiful wedding photos that illustrated our day perfectly. Matt was amazing! We couldn't have asked for anything more in a photographer. He is easy going, down to earth and relaxed and hypes you up during photo time when you feel like you are the most unphotogenic people on earth. He is super responsive leading up to the day and nothing was ever to hard, he worked super well as a team with our videographer on the day when they had both never worked together before which I think is a testament to him. Our photos came back and we were sooooo happy with them. Definitely recommend him on price and product!

Matt was amazing from the get go. From our initial enquiry, in the lead up to the day, to the day itself and after, everything was how I imagined it to be and more. Matt was always so helpful, friendly, reliable and guided us through the process to make it as easy for us as possible. What a guy, what a photographer, what a legend!
My husband and I are newly married and had the absolute pleasure of having Matt join us as our third wheel for the day. I have followed Matt on Instagram for years and knew his work was good so had always said that when the time came that I wanted him to be our photographer.
From our very first interaction to the day we received our photos (and even since then) Matt made the whole process feel easy and stress-free with his friendly and easy going attitude - despite all the challenges and changes that came with planning a wedding during covid.
Matt made our day SO much fun and we just felt like we were hanging out with a mate. We had an absolute blast at our shoot and he made us feel totally comfortable and at ease in front of the camera which we absolutely feel is reflected in the photos. One of my favourite moments from the shoot was when Matt was explaining to us how to do a lift by demonstrating on my husband!

Cannot recommend Matt highly enough!
Matt's beautiful photography style was what drew us in, but his personality and attitude towards the whole process was an even more perfect fit for us. We wanted to come away from our day with a good set of photos, but not have our day be governed by the whole photography process or feel like a huge photo shoot. When we first met with Matt we felt reassured that he actually really got what we meant. And he did! The day was the perfect balance and we have a huge library of beautiful photos to choose from.
We were also nervous about having our photos taken as both fairly awkward souls, but Matt made us feel SO at ease, and had that perfect balance of adjusting us if needed but also not intruding in the moment or making us feel uncomfortable. He played music, games and whatever else it took to help us relax and be natural and got some truly gorgeous shots. People have all been commenting on how amazing they are. Timing on delivery of sneak peaks and the full gallery was also amazing and exactly as promised.

Matt!!!! Where do we start!? You're an absolute legend and we are so glad we got to you to capture our big day. The photos are better than we could have ever imagined. You were warm and fun and made us feel so comfortable and doesn't it show in the pics! - it was like hanging out with a mate who just liked to take pics of us! haha.
